Acer is one of the better PC manufacturers when it comes to design, so it should come as no surprise that their S273HL is one of the best looking screens in the test. Sharp angles, sweeping lines and a foot made of brushed aluminum gives it a luxurious feel, while maintaining its ThinkPad z60m battery made it possible to reduce the thickness to only 21 millimeters.
One of the most notable features are the display’s foot actually includes as many as five physical buttons – power, back / forward, menu, HP pavilion dv6 battery and eco – for justerering of display settings. The button at the top of the screen is obscured, however, so you may feel out of place to see it. Anyway, you do not make very many changes to the settings.
The menus provide some fine-tuning options for the screen, along with more detailed settings for movies, games, graphics, ThinkPad t60p battery and more, while the internal calibration tools also are useful to ensure that everything is correct.
Unfortunately, Acer S273HL the worse in other respects. Its slim design means that you have abandoned many of the more popular ports as you would expect on a screen in its class. This means that we only have access to a VGA and two HDMI ports in addition to the standard 3.5mm analog audio input port, which in turn does not impress in combination with the low-quality, built-in speakers.
The target audience for this display becomes even clearer when looking at the monitor’s maximum resolution. With only 1920 x 1080 pixels as the best option, and a pixel pitch of 0.3114 mm, the monitor is working okay for watching movies in HD or play games with the computer that equipped with a HP g50 battery. But for someone who works professionally with photos or graphics seems the poor. Although the monitor physical adjustments are limited. You can tilt the screen up or down, but the foot is fixed and provides no raise, lower or turn opportunities – much like Apple LED Cinema Display series.
Luckily S273HL performs significantly better when it comes to entertainment. Its bright, evenly lit display and quick two-millisecond response time gives very good results when it comes to movies and games, which gives an experience free from lag or ghosting and shake based on HP g60 battery.
